Fence post
This photograph tunred out differently than I intended. This was taken mid-morning and the sun was just beginning to warm everything up. If you look closely at the darkest portion of the post, you can see what looks to be smoke. This was the water evaporating off the post as steam and that was what I was originally trying to capture...but the angle of the sun wasn't allowing me to get a good shot of it. So, I ended up with a shot composed of the fence post as the main subject. Not that I mind; I actually like this picture and the way it turned out.

Spider web
I've been on a mission ever since the weather turned warmer to photograph a spider's web and I found one, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. I need to get out early one morning and find one covered in morning dew. I think that would make for a more striking photograph.
Anyway, there always has to be a first...no matter how anti-cimactic it may be!

This is another photograph taken out at Watson Mill and further down the blog (click the link below), there's a picture taken from this exact same position:

It's amazing how different these two pictures look. One feels cold and dead, almost, while this one just looks so much more alive.
Yet another example why spring is one of my favorite times of year.

Grass
Now, I know that this isn't your typical grass you find in your front yard, but I couldn't come up with a better title. I'm sure there's an exact name for this kind of ground covering...and if you'd like to post a comment letting me know that name, you go right ahead.

Temporary hiatus...
Well, I was on a regular schedule with my photographs; a new set each weekend for about three or four weekends in a row there for a while, but I've skipped a weekend and I feel almost guilty for it. Truth be told, I needed the time to take care of some other business. Since it's a bit hard to get out and do anything during the week, my weekends are the only time for me to do things I want to do instead of doing things I need to do...however, sometimes, the weekend is taken up with things I need to do that I can't do during the week. That probably makes little sense.
Anyway, the weather in the area is in full spring mode. Warm (almost hot) temperatures and everything is brilliant green or some other color. I want to try and get some night shots or a few more time-lapsed photos if possible, but I just haven't found a suitable subject yet. As soon as I do, I'll be posting them.

Snake
As it is early spring and the weather today was in the upper 70's, this snake decided to come out and soak up a little sun. Not a bad idea.
I took this from a little bridge over a stream so I couldn't get too close (not that I'd want to anyway), but that prevented me from really getting a good shot. I cropped into this picture to get a little more detail on the snake. A long lens would have worked well in this situation.
I can't tell what kind of snake this is. I think it's just a harmless brown water snake (or a brown rat snake) but if anyone knows, please post a comment letting me know what kind you think it is.
